Exploring the Yoga Sutras | Kim Abraham

  • The Open Space 22 Bayview Avenue, Stonington, CT United States (map)

What do the yoga sutras mean for the modern yogi? Come to The Open Space to learn how to apply the yoga scriptures to your life now.

This lecture is open to those wishing to learn more about the philosophy and history of yoga. You don’t have to be a yoga teacher to attend.

From the moment I met Kim Abraham at an art opening in New London, I knew we would be fast friends. I didn’t know when I met her that she was a remarkable Ashtanga Teacher and Student and lives for this yoga stuff we practice. Since then, I have practiced both Ashtanga and Yin yoga as her student and attended workshops that she has hosted at her studio, The Kitchen Gallery.

Long ago, the sage Patanjali gave yogis ashtanga yoga, which you may know as the eight limbs of yoga. This body of wisdom explains a natural progression of techniques to train the body, mind, and senses for spiritual evolution. This system explained in this collection of aphorisms is called Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.

Kim is also a mother, artist, traveler and gardener. She is a strong supporter of the local community in New London and the Globe.

In true Kim fashion, we are offering this lecture as a “pay what you can” workshop. At check-in, simply place your offering in the jar and sign in. Everyone is welcome.

The Open Space is located in The Velvet Mill in Stonington Borough, Connecticut. Parking may be tight as this workshop is during the Farmer’s Market (10-1). Give your time to visit the market, bakeries, and eateries.
